Double headliner show! Amy Annette and Matt Hutchinson record their stand-up specials for BBC Radio 4.

After sell out runs in Edinburgh and at the Soho Theatre of her debut hour Thick Skin, Amy Annette is ready to dive back in time for I Survived The Noughties’. The experiences of being a Y2K teenager leant heavily on: Girls’ Mags, Trinny and Susannah, and the fashion style: ‘business-casual in the club’. It’s undeniable that the Noughties are cool again, but the recent flurry of media introspection about its magazine culture has mostly been led by the (typically narcotically-fuzzy) memories of those who ran the show - with very little input from the readers of that time. Amy is here to change that: Part nostalgia trip, part therapy session; all funny.

Matt Hutchinson is a stand-up comic who also happens to be a hospital doctor. Or should that be the other way around? Many people still have a fixed picture of what a doctor looks like (a middle-aged white guy) – just look at the response to the announcement of a black Doctor Who. If some members of the public can’t cope with a time travelling shape shifting alien being black, you can bet they probably have similar thoughts when it comes to brain surgeons. For one night only, Matt and BBC Radio 4 present a half hour comedy special of story-driven stand-up about race in healthcare and the NHS.
