IT STARTED WITH SWAP SHOP
Whether you were a kid with a crush or a student with a hangover, for years BBC Saturday morning children’s television had the perfect tonic.
In 2006, Noel Edmonds, Keith Chegwin, Maggie Philbin, and John Craven brought you a very special BBC2 event as they reunited the names, faces and personalities from 30 years of Saturday morning kids’ TV. In a two hour bumper episode of Swap Shop, Noel transported viewers through everything that was special, funny and unique about Saturday mornings, along with a few celebrity faces (Gordon the Gopher included).
For those who swapped a game at one of Keith's Swaperama's or swooned as their latest teenage crush took their call, Noel took viewers on a nostalgic journey from those early pioneering days of interactive phone-in entertainment.
After we issued a call to arms for any ‘now grown-up’ kid who called, swapped, sang, danced, questioned or quite simply watched on Saturday, an audience joined us for this rather special event.
